Ajay Mehta was born in New Delhi, India.  He attended two of the most prestigious institutions -- Mayo College [private boarding school] and St. Stephens College, Delhi University.   Talent requires genius and Ajay attributes his success to his parents, particularly his father Lt. Col. Baij Nath Mehta.  A decorated war hero declared Missing in Action in 1962 while commanding the 1st Sikh Regiment against the Chinese Aggression in N.E. India.  Like Ajay, his father enjoyed acting, directing and writing playlets.  Ajay is also blessed with his father's looks, voice and personality.

After graduation Ajay moved to Hong Kong. While there, he did continuity announcing and scriptwriting for HK TVB Pearl-English, including cameos in TV Dramas, Commercials, and Print.

He made his U.S. Primetime TV debut in 1989 on NBC 'Around the World in 80 Days' opposite Sir Peter Ustinov. The scene was shot in Hong Kong and then Ajay made his way to New York City.  Ajay's versatility as an actor has enabled him to play many diverse characters on Primetime Television Comedy’s and Dramatic Series in Recurring and Guest Starring roles.

Most memorable roles include as Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup in HBO’s Emmy & Golden Globe nominated film “Too Big To Fail”, and Recurring Guest Stars an edgy Middle Eastern Ambassador on "24", a hilarious Neurosurgeon on "Eli Stone", an International Real Estate Tycoon on "Royal Pains" and a pompous Steel Magnate on “Outsourced”.

Ajay's film roles have enabled him to work with some of the biggest names in the industry “Acceptance” w/Joan Cusack, “Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World” w/ Albert Brooks, “People I Know” w/Al Pacino, “Spiderman” director Sam Raimi and “Serendipity” w/Kate Beckinsale.

In November 2010 he worked on a new HBO film ‘Too Big To Fail’ playing Vikram Pandit the CEO of Citigroup, the film was directed by Curtis Hanson and is based on Andrew Ross Sorkin’s bestseller by the same title. It premiered on May 23rd, 2011 on HBO.

Ajay made his theatrical debut in Manhattan Theatre Club's critically acclaimed production, "East is East'' as Mr.Shah.

He has also been very successful in Television Commercials.  His mellifluous voice has been used in dozens of voiceovers for TV and Radio Spots.

Ajay’s versatility with accents has helped him in doing voices for a the Video Game ‘Ghost Recon X’ [three voices] for Red Storm Entertainment, an animation film for the Cartoon Network “Johnny Bravo goes to Bollywood” [five voices and a song] and he has narrated an audio book "Seven Spiritual Laws of Superheroes" by Deepak Chopra.

In 2007 Ajay was cast as the Campaign Spokesman for “Fiber One” brand products playing the memorable Supermarket Regional Manager and has been seen in numerous interviews for his role. The successful General Mills campaign ended in May, 2011.

His latest projects being released in 2012 are Paramount’s action thriller “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” playing the President of India, and he also returns again this season to his recurring role on "Royal Pains" [USA] as Reshma Shetty's (Divya) powerful overbearing father.
